Going back to the basics. Anyways, huke is extremely well-known in the anime-style art world (aka Pixiv), and is definitely most famous for his character design for supercell’s hit named BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER. Other funny facts about him include that his birthday is April 20th, his blood type is B, and he listens to E-rin when he draws. Or so he says. As well, he is part of the illustrators under the Vocaloid music group “supercell“, along with redjuice and Miwa Shirow, to name a few.
His style is extremely grungy. He uses a lot of textures and seems to really like the checker pattern. The eyes of his characters are also unique in that it seems luminous and lacks a dark pupil at times. Character designs are, in my opinion, very fashionable, and makes use of forgotten (at least in Japan) trends such as zippered hoodies and tights, and characters frequently have long, thin limbs.
huke also seems to love large weapons and objects with a gun metal-like sheen to it, and due to this he is able to draw art related to shooters such as Killzone and Gears of War, a very very uncommon subject in the Japanese art world. His shading for these objects (helmets, guns, armour) is impeccably accurate, as seen on his streams. In addition, he is largely capable of drawing in a realistic style (with real noses and mouths!) as well as his take on the anime style.
Colour palette is usually dark, and a lot of the neutral shades lack contrast (especially the blacks and greys as they never seem to be fully solid.) He likes to use colour as a highlight rather than splashing colour everywhere like most artists. As well, when he does use colour, it is usually not bright or vibrant at all.
