Things I Am Excited About 【July Ep2】

It might not look like it, but this post took a very long time to compile because WordPress’s editor is clunky as hell. ARGH.

• nagimiso.sys‘s VN02 Hatsune Miku design (from iroha(sasaki)’s MOON REMIXES PV) is being turned into a figure by Max Factory. No release date yet.
• huke< is doing the character designs for Steins;gate, a new visual novel developed by Nitroplus and 5pb. .
• 金子一馬 (KANEKO Kazuma) back to doing character designs (finally) for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, a new installment for the DS.
• 曽我部修司 (SOGABE Shuji) changed the header image on his blog, which now features Sanjo Shinobu, a new character from Senko no Ronde DUO.
• 三輪士郎 (MIWA Shirow), huke, and redjuice have mostly completed their covers for their respective (individual) Comiket 76 release(s).

Music

• ざにお‘s (zanio, aka パイパンP) new gag(?) song, ボカラン詐欺 (Vocaloid Ranking Fraud), is very funny and addictive. リツカ (RITSUKA) even did a cover for it lolol.
• OneRoom (aka ジミーサムP)’s first full Vocaloid album Toy Box, released on July 29th with cover art by ゆのみ (yunomi).
• cosMo (aka 暴走P), is participating in DEBUTANTE 4 and changes name to Storyteller. His entry is titled ANTI THE∞HOLiC.
• Persona 4 Vocal Selection in high quality with very accurate Japanese translation of the English lyrics.
• 君の知らない物語 (Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari) finally gets an animated sequence as the ending theme of Bakemonogatari, and also has an official PV video preview up. I’m assuming the latter will be what’s on the limited First Press edition DVD of the single release.

【Illustrator】 なぎみそ。SYS

なぎみそ。SYS (nagimiso.SYS) is probably one of the most famous illustrators from nicovideo. He started out drawing Vocaloid-related comics such as Miku-yon and later RIREYON. However, he got his gigantic break with doing the illustration for the incredibly popular song 炉心融解 (Meltdown), and with that one song everyone on nicovideo were exposed to his works.

Anyways, I took a while to warm up to his other works which were not Meltdown, but once I did I couldn’t get enough of it. I should also note that he is extremely speedy at doodles. I saw him draw on a stream once and bam 2 seconds later, a picture. On his Twitter he once replied to someone’s comment with a picture in literally about a minute and people were like “Whoa speedynagimiso!!”, and after that Twitter incident I liked him that much more. His style is really distinct, kind of a mix between anime and American comic style, for his doodles, anyways. Very solid lines and vivid colours. His outfit designs are so impeccable that I like everything he comes up with, which is rare. He is also quite versatile with styles when he wants to be, and can do both wispy, dreamy pictures (see this poster for TORABORUTA’s song Luna), and the solid and modern style you see above for Meltdown. He also draws a looooooooooot of different poses and expressions, all of which I love dearly. Excuse me for posting two pictures in one post, but the image below is too magnificent, if not pitiful:
